The Management Trainee Programme aims to develop these identified and aspiring individuals to become future leaders of the hospitality industry. The programme serves to orientate, induct and ‘educate’ these individuals, so that they may participate as informed, equipped and proficient managers and eventually taking on critical responsibilities and decision-making roles within specific functions. A well-guided roadmap will see the Management Trainees effectively taking over responsibilities at the mid-management level by the end of the 18-month programme, and possibly in a senior management appointment with continuous fast-track development after another four to five years with the Group.
Graduates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality from any recognised university or degree in any discipline with a Diploma in Hospitality are eligible to apply for Park Hotel Group’s Management Trainee Programme.
The 18-month programme comprises three semesters, each lasting six months. Each semester provides the Management Trainees an immersion experience in each of the three main divisions of the hotel operations namely Housekeeping, Front Office and Food & Beverage (F&B). A combination of core on-the-job, generic skills training and assessments as well as selected and relevant external training programmes form the framework of this exciting learning journey.
Core on-the-job skills are largely imparted through daily practical, experiential or theoretical learning and attachment to superiors/mentors.
Generic skills training are extra-curricular normally conducted outside of peak operational hours of the Housekeeping, Front Office and F&B divisons. Management Trainees will personally schedule and assign their time to be spent exclusively with subject-matter experts, who are divisional or functional heads on topics including budgets/budgetary controls, strategic planning, people management skills, business communications, marketing skills and performance review and leadership skills.
Throughout the programme, each Management Trainee will report to a designated mentor who is essentially the head of the division he/she is attached to. There will be a monthly progress update report to the Corporate Training Manager. The Management Trainee will also be assigned semester projects on a six-monthly basis, the reviews of which will be conducted by the Senior Vice-President, General Manager, Mentor, Director of Human Resource and Training Manager.
